Salone Entry 12: Photo recap

IMG_0319Traffic was brought to a complete standstill so that our charter bus could cross the narrow bridge over the Rokel River en route to Lungi Airport. 

 

IMG_0039An open air fruit and spices market on Siaka Stevens Street, the main thoroughfare in Freetown. 

 

IMG_0053The Cotton Tree in the center of a roundabout on Siaka Stevens Street.  The Cotton Tree is the national symbol of Sierra Leone. has been known to exist since 1787, and is still the focal point of the city, and present on the 10,000 Liyon note.

 

IMG_0081 A typical home cooked meal.  A lightly fried fish,  Spaghetti covered in an sauce of mashed peppers and spices, and fried plantains.
